Barely in Time to Greet You
Reality is licking at my feet,
silent dominance matching my chromosomes,
genetic mapping while I sleep,
cancer breeds in the food we eat.
Silent disease grows through ignorance
insecticides on the crops,
thoughts pried into our minds.
The media has no grasp on me,
clasp my mediocrity and prey on my fears
you have no future here
on the void of chaos peace reigns,
every grain of sand pulls at the chains that embrace me.
Race me.
Running slaloms over dunes
blowing cinders over lava walls,
sheets barely a foot thick
frozen in motion,
a slab of flowing magma
retaining a wall of life and shelter a hundred fifty feet tall.
A mountain of shade in the sweltering heat.
