I Am Free
Six thousand miles surrounds me from the pound,
society can’t get me,
I am a convict that is freed,
six more miles until the water.
Cattle led to the slaughter
bolt between the eyes
water, food, happy demise.
We walk wanting care,
something acknowledge we are here.
God are you listening?
Four days and my skin is glistening from sweat,
UV penetrates my pores,
no I’m OK.
Get to the water, walk some more.
Make sure you carry the burden for some miles.
The trials dig into me,
the weird abnormalities of my life to date,
how I was picked up on the street and sent to the head of the state of Texas.
He said “Remember US and send a message to that Canadian fuck,
that guy who tried to ruin my predicate,
my prejudice,
send it for me.
send it for US all, we want you outta here by midnight.”
I fled that state and they missed me on the way out.
Assault rifle with a sawed off snout
grazed in front of my hitched ride.
the driver noticed
fifteen minutes before he would have coasted through
and now he is a victim too
and onto the border.
Silent witness we are paying
cost is laying on our doorstep.
The fruit is ripe for picking
