Revelation
It’s been forty years this morning since they broke the sacred law
The fields were ripe for farming but they didn't care at all
The sky was clearing overhead you could feel the wisdom like I said
Just ain't the day to wish one man dead and I watched the kingdom fall
His mouth was drawn his hopes were down
His hair was wind wrapped 'round his crown
Look in your eyes you'll see his frown
As we watched his kingdom fall
Now I'm feeling awfully awful since I didn't make that call
I just sat in my recliner as his kingdom took a fall
Betrayal comes with a sidewise glance never gave the matter half a chance
Stole away their government grants as their kingdom took a fall
All the whisky rum and brandy almost nearly took a toll
British innocence is dandy and adds up to naught at all
Ritual ground now tourist traps, official agents out taking naps
Feeling confident when the thunder claps that they've done right after all
That they've made their kingdom fall
